The dream job offer is this: Get paid $10,000 a month for six months to drink wine, learn and talk about wine, eat good food, live rent free in Healdsburg and play the occasional game of poker with a laid-back staff.

The ideal candidate must combine an engaging personality and an enthusiasm for all things wine with experience at tweeting, blogging, and keeping photo and video diaries.

On Tuesday, hundreds of wine-loving, social-media-savvy types showed up in downtown San Francisco to apply for a "Really Goode Job," with Murphy-Goode Winery in Sonoma County. Part publicity stunt, part oldfashioned meet-and-greet, the event marked the start of a two-month process expected to draw as many as 10,000 applications for the position of "Wine Country correspondent."

Murphy-Goode winemaker Dave Ready Jr., a poker enthusiast, former Deadhead and onetime aspiring rock star, knows the nuances of when to plant and when to pick. He is clear on fermenting and bottling and most things in between.

"I'm busy trying to turn grapes into wine, so what I don't know, really, is Web 2.0," Ready said, dressed in jeans, jacket and weathered work boots as he stood on Market Street preparing to talk with a steady stream of applicants. "We're looking for a communicator to promote wine, promote what we do and promote Sonoma County."
