We're playing those mind games together
Pushing the barriers,
Planting seeds
Playing the mind guerrilla
Chanting the mantra, peace on earth
-John Lennon
It's a chilling moment when the light goes out in someone's eyes. A once-radiant child hardens from abuse. A woman's heart shrinks after her husband's abandonment.
The person looks the same, maybe acts the same. But something is gone, and what's lost is irretrievable. It's like when a person dies: in a heartbeat, the soul vanishes.
I witnessed this alteration recently when I visited my goddaughter, a radiant girl. Her mom, a hardcore progressive, has started exposing her to the darkest elements of the left. And the last time I looked in the girl's eyes, the light had gone out. Disappeared. Just like that.
I see this phenomenon every day: a light dimming. The friendly shopkeeper snaps at me. My cheerful neighbor seems flattened.
And you hear it in the news: people acting strangely, going off the deep end. The most bizarre behavior becoming the new normal.
A thug bites off a finger. Sarah Palin's church is torched. Bullies intimidate voters.
Last week, an esteemed Columbia University black architecture professor punched a white female coworker in the eye for not doing more about white privilege.
He has no history of violence. So why now?
Why now? This may be the most important question of our time. Why are some people reaching the boiling point? Why do many others look vacant, like an Invasion of the Body Snatchers? The shootings at military bases, from Little Rock to Fort Hood -- why now?
It's Obama, of course.
Liberals will excoriate me for writing this. They'll insist that bad behavior is not Obama's fault. He's a man of peace.
But study the phenomenon of cults, and the dynamics are always the same. The leader can incite violence without ever getting his hands dirty. Obama is controlling the marionette of the masses.
If Obamamania is a cult, then Obama is the cult leader. Cult leaders routinely pull the strings of their followers. The most extreme example is Charles Manson. He rots in prison for murders he never committed. He didn't have to do the dirty work. His brainwashed charges did his bidding.
I'm not saying Obama is a Charles Manson. There are varying degrees of manipulation, from using sexy blondes to entice men to buy cars all the way to hypnotizing them to drink poisoned Kool Aid. But there's a common denominator in all mind control: manipulating people through mind games.
As soon as Obama came on the scene, the programming began. His face was plastered everywhere like Mao. In his speeches, Obama lulled audiences with a melodious voice and feel-good phrases repeated over and over. And he began inciting people with his charming smile.
First, the vultures starting swooping down on Hillary. Obama chose not to call off the dogs.
Then thugs invaded caucuses. Again, silence.
Which led to vicious misogyny against Sarah Palin and threats on her life. From Obama: not a peep.
We even saw armed thugs at polling places. Ignored and not prosecuted by Obama's Attorney General.
The moment Obama became president, he upped the signals. At the swearing in, the entire family eerily chose to wear black and red, colors associated with communism and black nationalism. Obama's first radio address was broadcast in the Arab world.
Obama returned Britain's gift of a Winston Churchill statue while embracing dictators. He gave a white police officer a dressing down for doing his job, in effect calling him a racist.
Obama's greatest magic trick? Brainwashing the masses to believe that racism is a greater danger than radical Islam, and that Obama himself is in constant peril.
Opposing health care means you oppose Obama. Oppose Obama and you're part of a vast right-wing racist conspiracy.
Thus, more and more people are finding themselves on the receiving end of a fist, figurative or literal. After the White House released a directive for his followers to strike back hard, a frail, diabetic black man at a Town Hall was beaten up.
Even women can get slugged in the face. Obama signaled during the primary that women were fair game.
Obama and the Left are making sure that there ia an increasing number of persuadable people. By displacing workers, panicking business owners with Draconian laws, and whipping up rage and paranoia, they amass more lackeys.
The American Hard Left knows how to create a cult because it is a cult, one with a violent history. The Black Panthers, Symbionese Liberation Army, Weathermen, Black Muslims -- all nefarious cults.
Members of the Weathermen, for instance, had their spirits broken through forced wickedness, such as animal abuse. Patty Hearst morphed into bank robber Tania after weeks of isolation, rape, and beatings by the SLA. Huey P. Newton sent his Black Panthers to the hospital or to the grave if they didn't practice total obedience.
So what's the end game here?
The first goal is power. The Left has an insatiable need to control every aspect of our lives.
But there's a deeper reason, one much more insidious.
The Left wants to tear Americans down. Just as the Weatherman did to those naïve lost kids, they want to break our spirits. This goal of degradation is more crucial than their one-world government.
The progressives want to turn us into them, to make us feel as deprived and depraved and deadened. It's the only way that they can silence the roar of shame and self-loathing.
What they don't understand is this: it's not going to happen. There are too many of us who won't be hypnotized.
We can see right through them. We know who they are: the most piteous of human beings, and the most dangerous. Men without a country, orphans far from home. The forsaken and disowned.
They're "hungry ghosts," to use a Tibetan phrase: tormented beings who are starving to death from their inner nothingness.
Mother Teresa was once asked how she coped with serving the poorest of the poor in Calcutta. She responded that what she saw in the cities of the United States was much more disturbing, because it was a "poverty of the spirit."
Poverty of the spirit. No truer words can be spoken of the progressive Left.

I agree with the reality that there is "mind games" but to me that can equally be applied to the conservative, moderate and liberal political machine and each having their own respective negative effect on society at large. I disagree with the melodramatic details of the implications of President Obama's political ideology.
Not to say there aren't any issues of a propaganda struggle between our political ideologies that have a down side but this article is a bit far reaching.
I agree with Mother Theresa's assessment as well that so many in wealthy nations suffer from a poverty of the spirit. Or as one of my most favorite fictional characters (Auntie Mame) once said "life is a banquet and we're all starving fools". Either way you want to look at it IMO our spiritual blindness has more to do with simply forgetting who we really are and getting to wrapped up in a generally pretty stressful society. Those people my self included who stay tuned into it regardless of whatever political ideology happens to reign over us at the moment deal quite nicely.
1Well said Hypno
2Funny, she quotes John Lennon but when I read the words "Mind Game" I just go all GaGa.
3"a psychotherapist and a recovering liberal"
Love it.
4Melodrama or not, I feel like one of the many oppressed. I think we all do on some level. We worry about our jobs or lack of.
We are told that our country is in a healthcare crisis... but this crisis occurred almost overnight and that the world as we know it would perhaps end if we don't immediately toss more money at it. How does that happen? We were simply sold this idea. Simply fixing what is broken would be too simple.
Obama works with melodrama like an artist with paint. We are constantly being given the "appropriate picture" painted by him or his administration. There has been great effort...numerous attempts to convince us that the picture is what we should believe it is.
Many of us are thinking it is much more abstract---perhaps the picture is even backwards. Heck the picture doesn't even remotely appear to be what we are being "told" that it is. There are the mindless minions that say, "Ok, sure, whatever you say Mr President" as if he is some deity.
It is not unamerican to question your president's motives. It is not unamerican to question whether the picture we are given is in fact reality.
It is not unamerican to actually think for yourself and come up with your own opinion.
It would BE unamerican to NOT ask questions....but for some reason we are supposed to suddenly feel it is against American views to question, ponder, and think.
Yes Mother Theresa...we do have a crisis in America...it IS poverty of spirit. Our American ingenuity is being ripped from our hands...and into the controlled narrow vision of a liberal agenda.
5Wow- this article absolutely nails the "truth" of our times and Obama. At last the facade is coming off the Messiah and his real colors are showing and it's not pretty.
6HAHAHAHHAHA, thanks for the good laugh this morning. 'The light goes out in her eyes', what a bunch of melodramatic bull.
7Eleu could you add a source to this post please? Thanks!
8Wow - this is really overly melodramatic. (How is this any different than what the author is claiming that Obama and liberals do?)
There's nothing that liberals have done that other groups have not also done. What I don't get is why people are behaving like Chicken Little with the sky is falling bullsh*t. It was perfectly okay for the previous administration to spoon feed bullsh*t and yet so many people throwing a sh*t-fit now did not speak up and have a problem when it was their group doing it. No matter who is in charge, the people who did not support that person will have a problem with what they are doing. We are becoming a nation of sore losers and people who are stubborn and cannot admit when someone they disagree with has reasonable arguments/goals. This "if you're not with me, then you are against me" crap really needs to stop - on all sides. They look for offenses and read into everything way too much. We're a nation of conspiracy theorists anymore and it's really out of hand.
Politics is not a life-death situation. We'll all survive and get through it. Some of us may like the outcome, some may not. Every four years, you have the chance to try and elect new people if you are not happy with the current politicians. But we all have a goal to work towards a goal in the middle - something that is COMPROMISE of all views in the mean time. The politics of today - my way or nothing at all - really hurts everyone and accomplishes nothing.
9thanks for adding the source!
10Compromise is not always the best way especially when the way someone trys to tke the nation on a hard core left wing agenda i.e. Obama
11"trying to take the nation" - keys are sticking.
12if everyone refuses to compromise and meet in the middle, then nothing gets done. How is doing nothing better than working towards the middle?
13better that nothing get done than compromise for something that wrecks something as important as,for instance, our health care! I am in that 80% who loves my amazing health care, my doctor(s and my insurance. I want Obama to leave it alone. He's doing it for his own political engrandizement
14my healthcare I have now is okay. But I remember being in college and not having it and not being able to get it. And my husband had awful employer provided coverage before I met him that refused to cover barely anything. Even though my healthcare is decent now, I can think outside of just myself and realize that far too many people get denied for wrong reasons and far too many cannot get health care.
15for the 800th time, you can keep your own health care!!!! why do people not understand that an OPTION is OPTIONAL???
16I'm just amazed at how many people only think of themselves and if their lucky, well damn all the people who aren't as lucky as I am. Sorry about your luck!
17prove it snarky. Prove to me that "you can keep your own healthcare"
Furthermore, no one is turned away from the ER. It is ridiculous to think we owe every illegal immigrant healthcare and we are so BROKE we can't afford to hand out any more welfare to the world. WE are in DEBT up to our eyeballs here in the US so you can't give out what you can't even afford!
that is why we need a President with at least a bit of experience balancing a checkbook- not a novice who, along with the dems running congress, are running this country into the ground.
18So wreck everyone's healthcare so you can say you are fixing the system for those who don't have it?
How about some common sense? fix the part for those who don't have it and leave all the rest of us alone~ We all have struggled in life to make ends meet so to say someone doesn't care about others is so self righteous. and a lie.
19
20Um I didn't know it was only illegal immigrants who don't have healthcare. There's plenty more people without healthcare than just illegal immigrants. And going to the E.R. is the solution? Ever been to an E.R. - it's for emergencies. Part of the reason the E.R. is so backed up is because of all the non-emergency people who are forced to go there because they have nowhere else to go. It's not meant for someone who's child has a fever and a cough and needs antibiotics.
And your right the E.R. can't turn people away. What do you think it costs someone to be seen at the E.R.? It's probably going to run at least $1,000 and the people who are forced to use the E.R. for their primary care are not the people who can afford it. Sometimes, if your just that poor and shit broke, the hospital swallows the costs and passes it on to other people who can afford it. But if you're lower to middle class and you have a job, well then, you just racked up a $1,000 bill to be seen for strep throat. And very few lower-middle class people can afford that kind of bill.
Prove it Ella that you can't keep your own health care. You'd rather let millions of people go without health care and who knows how many people die because illnesses related to not having health care because your afraid you may not have the same health care plan you have now? Can you even cite non-biased proof that you'll be forced to change your healthcare plan? Your employer has a choice, if he changes it, that's your employers fault, not anyone elses.
21Amy!!!
22Part of the reason the E.R. is so backed up is because of all the non-emergency people who are forced to go there because they have nowhere else to go.
Exaaaaaaaaactly!
23last night on newshour, former DHHS Secretaries Leavitt and Shalala pointed it out. i only get my news from tv, otherwise i'd know more
and currently, we are ALREADY PAYING for these people in the ED!!!!
24PROVE IT!
25It kills me. The same people who want to deny the opportunity for millions of uninsured people to finally get affordable health care out of fear that their health care may change are the same ones who want to take away the freedom to choose abortion. Yes - let's fight to save that unborn baby, make the mother give birth no matter what circumstances she may be in. And yet you'll look the other way when millions die of preventable disease because of lack of health care - because you can't be bothered to actually do research and find out if your healthcare will change.
26i would prove it amy, but i'm too busy stealing your health care.
27That last comment was not directed at you ella - just to clarify.
28Speaking from personal experience, I've had to sit in an emergency room for an ear infection because I didn't have insurance. And I'm not an illegal immigrant.
29My parents also were too poor to afford health insurance for the majority of my childhood. Luckily my brother and I were perfectly healthy and never had major problems.
30I wouldn't expect you to admit you were an illegal immigrant Blue
but it's a well known fact illegals are the only ones without healthcare.
31Ella, why not do a little study and use the ER for a year in place of your primary physician. Every time you or a member of your family get sick, go to the E.R. for treatment. The E.R. accepts all healthplans. See how great of an experience you have - never having the same doctor twice, waiting a few hours to be seen. You'd feel differently if you were forced to rely on the E.R. for primary care.
32Shhhhhhhhh Genesis...don't tell anyone!
33I must have been an illegal immigrant while in college because I had no health care for my last two years and then when in grad school, I got sh*tty health care that refused to cover a trip to the E.R. for an asthma attack, citing my oxygen wasn't low enough to warrant coverage, even though I was only at 86% oxygen and anything below 90% can cause brain damage.
34There's no money to pay for socialized medicine. kaput. outta cash. done used up the funds. We be in the tank. maybe head to Canada?
35
36
37I just got a call from the White House. They said get out of the Presidents head he can't think straight. LOL jk
38Cool, I was an illegal immigrant for 3 months after getting laid off unexpectedly. Looks like I'm in the cool kids' club now, Sarah and Yoga!
And snarky you can't be stealing amy's health care. I already stole it two weeks ago.
39oh no! who's going to pay for all of my abortions???
40Keep the government out of my medicare.
41I lodged a piece of cheddar popcorn in my throat from laughing at that, snarky.
Thank
goodness I'm not an illegal immigrant anymore and could go to the ER had I started choking!!
42Isn't that the problem (Using the ER as your primary care)? Not only do non-emergencies take up room, and time, but the ER costs more.
43I've been forced to use the ER as my primary care because I couldn't afford health insurance. So yes it is part of the problem!
44But what does health insurance have with getting a primary care physician? I had a primary care phys. for 8 years without ins.
45I was kidding...the only times I've been to the ER were the four times I was hospitalized with gastroenteritis. I did get the popcorn lodged in my throat though from laughing at snarky.
/wah wah wah...
46I hate it when I get popcorn lodged in my throat. It seems that only more beer gets it out....
47...and for the record every single time I was throwing up to the point of not being able to keep down pedialyte, it was 2 in the morning, so I had no choice, really. I see what Sarah's saying though. I know people who have had to do that. Non-illegal immigrants, at that.
48i hate that feeling that there's still a kernel in there and it's all scratchy. ugh.
49Especially if it's not, like, fluffy popcorn.
