The new Dallas Cowboys Stadium will offer $60 pizzas
By Chris Chase
According to the Cowboys, the 20-inch pizzas at the new stadium will cost $60, not $90 as reported. For ONE pizza with NO toppings! (That's the same price they were in the suites at Texas Stadium.) There will be five different types of pizza available for that price. Again, topping are extra! Beer will be sold for $5.
The suites themselves will range from $100,000 to $500,000 per year. That lease will include tickets to Cowboys games, but not third-party events.
The colossal new Dallas Cowboys Stadium is living proof that everything is bigger in Texas. The menu in the luxury suites proves that things there are more expensive too.
Those enjoying a Cowboys game from a luxury suite at the new stadium will have to shell out $60 for pizza and $66 for a 12-pack of domestic beer, reports Steven Sipple of the Lincoln Journal World. Ninety bucks for pizza? That's almost as much of a rip-off as Roy Williams.

It costs $800,000 per year to lease one of those luxury suites, a hefty sum that doesn't include game tickets. On the bright side, the stadium's official Web site says that "having your company's name on a suite makes an important statement about your success" and can help make an impression on clients. (Namely that they're paying you way too much money.)
As for the $60 pizza, that's the cost for a plain pizza. No word on how much each topping costs but, suffice it to say, if you're a fan of pepperoni you may want to consider refinancing your mortgage before you head down to watch the Cowboys

You know I understand that people will dish out serious money for good tickets to a game. But I would NEVER spend $60 on ONE pizza with NO toppings. Even if this thing had free toppings I would never buy it. And $66 for a 12-pack of domestic beer is even more outrageous.
I consider myself as doing very well during our bad economy but even still, I would pass on these offers at the stadiums.

2I'm a capitalist through and through,... but even I feel like it's not right what these stadiums and teams charge, tickets are insane and then to gauge on food? Its the fans that hurt and not the rich fans, the kids... Kids who should be able to afford to go to a game.
3that dough better be made by a little italian woman, the sauce better be made that day from tomatoes grown in the most pristine soil, and the cheese better also be made that day from fresh milk and handled by cherubs for that price.
4I'm fine with the Cowboys charging and arm and a leg for their pizzas. If their fans are able to afford those outrageous prices, all the better for them. I won't be going to a Cowboys game anytime soon though.
5I'm fine with it, as well.
And the money for the beer actually strikes me as less odd/outrageous than the amount charged for the pizza. Even for "normal" fans out in the regular seats, one beer can cost $5 or more at sporting events!
6Hey, if someone wants to buy a $60 pizza, far be it from me to stop them.
I do tend to agree that games and movies have become outrageously priced these days. I can't even imagine what the cost is for a family of four is to spend the day at the ball park... or the movies.
7though i guess with the behavior thats exhibited at a lot of sporting events... and the players antics (juicing, animal violence, just plain violence in their lives in general)... maybe its not such a good place to bring your kid!
8Geez, the super rich ought to pay higher taxes because if they'd pay $60 for a pizza they're too stupid to be trusted with money.

Dude, does that thing come with a tank of gas?
10"Geez, the super rich ought to pay higher taxes because if they'd pay $60 for a pizza they're too stupid to be trusted with money."
huh?? I'm HOPing this is sarcasm.
11That must be some pizza. Count me out....
12"Geez, the super rich ought to pay higher taxes because if they'd pay $60 for a pizza they're too stupid to be trusted with money."
Hey I understand what she means by that one
And the cost of food at the theater makes parents feed their children just before they literally walk into the theater doors. And they carry a bottle of soda or juice in their purse or bag too. I'm not paying $5 - $7 for a drink when a child is most likely not going to finish it. Most of them don't finish the food you buy them either. And I hardly ever finish what I'm drinking unless it's a Pepsi.
13"That's almost as much of a rip-off as Roy Williams."
14I think it's beyond the absurd.
15So this pizza is for everyone...not just the luxury suite people?
I say that cause I've used luxury boxes before...and the prices for food and drink are astronomical. I guess you pay more so you don't have to walk down the concession stands and wait in line with the rest of the minions.
16lazy bums, the lot of them!
17Seriously!
I didn't purchase food or alcohol in the luxury box, I walked my happy ass down to the concession stands!
18I don't really have a problem with it. Charge whatever you want. I'm certainly not going to buy it, and in my mind anyone who does is a moron...especially when you can, as Sarah said, go to the concession stand yourself. Or slip your server a $20 and have them do it. LOL
19
Exactly!
20I don't think fetched pizza and DIY pizza taste as good as $60 pizza.
21Anyone willing to pay $60 for pizza is either going to overpay for a wrench for the Pentagon, or overcharge on government contracts to keep up with his pizza habit.

... you wouldn't, Woop (the elitist pizza snob that you are)
23There's also the people that pay hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of dollars for a burger. I wouldn't do it, but when you have that kind of money I guess it really doesn't matter to you how much it costs!
24UGH...I would never be that kind of rich person, that just throws it away.
25Amy this is what it's like when your champagne wishes and caviar dreams come true.
26I think most pizza joints are overpriced anyway. Not every pizza is good. And NO pizza is worth $60. I think it's lazy to pay this price just because you don't want to walk to the concession stand with everyone else.
Hell, you can just lie to people and tell them you spent $60 on a pizza if that makes you feel more special. I would rather say I didn't pay for it. I think I would sound like the more sensible one for not paying that price.
27I think most rich people are cheapskates and wouldn't throw it away! It would be the people who don't have the money who are more likely to spend it... IMHO.
28Hubert Keller has a $5,000 burger at one of his restaurancts. Kind of makes this over priced pizza look reasonable.
29I agree haus.
UGH...I would never be that kind of rich person, that just throws it away.
30And I'd love to know who thought of this price and why. Today's economy is bad enough. People want to see a good game for a good price. It takes a little stress off of them. But the stress comes back to them when they become hungry and have to pay insane prices in order to eat at these places. And the price for children to eat should be even lower because they are not eating the same large amount as adults do.
31LOL...not sure why that showed up again. I guess I meant it!
32I agree, too, haus.
And, I have to say, I've watched various sporting events from luxury boxes and always ordered a ton of food. Since the people I was with and I didn't have to pay for it, I figured it was built into the cost of the box rental, tickets, etc. I later learned that the companies were paying for it. Eh, oh well. I feel like that's who's paying for the vast majority of those $60 pizzas, corporations, not individuals.
33shopping42this is so unbelievable!!
34I've always wanted one of those 5k burgers or the 10k ice cream sundae.... they're just so crazy!
Even if I had millions I'd still feel guilty about spending the money though... so I'll never get one....
.....unless some reallllllyyy awesome people on the Sugar site chipped in and bought it for me for my birthday!
35good point about corporations kim!
36And, on a happier note, I have noticed several sports teams offering family deals, something like four tickets to a game, four hot dogs, four bags of chips, and four sodas for x number of dollars. (I can't recall the exact price, but I know it's a deal compared to the normal prices.)
37You could always eat before the game.
38You could, but hot dogs bought at sporting events just taste better to me! That's actually the only time I will ever eat a hot dog.
39" I feel like that's who's paying for the vast majority of those $60 pizzas, corporations, not individuals."
If corporations are paying for it, they're deducting it somewhere too as the cost of doing business or they're passing the cost on... so it's taxpayers who pay.

ugh... so tiring.
41I'm aware. That has nothing to do with my point. I'm just saying that it's likely not uber-rich people paying for it out of their own pockets.
42Yeah lil...they definitely do taste better.
43As a Yankee pseudo-fan going to a New England college I used to love this joke:
What's the difference between a Yankee hot dog and a Fenway Frank?
......
You can buy Yankee hot dogs in October!
But then the Red Sox had to and win the series and I couldn't use the joke anymore.
44That's a good one, haus.
(Even though I despise the Yankees and all that they stand for.
)
45"(Even though I despise the Yankees and all that they stand for.)"
AGREED!
46I don't even like baseball! But I used to get picked on so bad for bring from NY that I decided to become a Yankee fan just to push back... Red Sox fans piss me off.
47"Even though I despise the Yankees and all that they stand for."
Winning?

ooooh burn! good one steph!
49Well when you have copious amounts of money you can buy whatever team you want.
