I just heard the news and just breaks my heart. I loved watching McNair play. He seemed to love football and gave his all whenever on the field. I remember him often playing hurt. Everything I've ever heard said about him lead me to believe he was a class act both on and off the field.
"McNair Shot and Killed
UPDATED (6 p.m.)...
Former Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Steve McNair was shot and killed in Nashville, police have confirmed.
McNair, 36, and an unidentified woman were found dead in a condominium, a Nashville police spokesman told reporters at an impromptu news conference near the property.
Investigators did not yet know the circumstances of the shooting, spokesman Don Aaron said.
"At this point, we don't know the circumstances of these shooting deaths," Aaron said. "The investigation is going to be conducted by the police department's centralized homicide unit. Those detectives have assembled here at the scene. The condominium still has to be processed. There is a lot of work yet to be done. It's going to take many hours to process the scene. I don't have any answers for you now as to what's happened, who's responsible, what the circumstances are."
Aaron said that police had tentatively identified the woman but did not release her name, pending confirmation of that identification and notification of her family.
No one had been arrested for the shooting, said Aaron, who indicated that investigators were questioning visitors to the condo complex to see if they had any information.
"We are saddened and shocked to hear the news of Steve McNair's passing today," Titans owner Bud Adams said in a written statement released by the team. "He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they deal with his untimely passing.""

So sad about. The Titans are my husband's favorite team. He was really awesome to watch. My favorite thing of his was when he did the "air mcnair" thing with his hands. I think that's what that was for. RIP Steve.
1Sources are saying that he was murdered at his girlfriend's condo. This reminds me of Shawn Taylor. Young men murdered for senseless reasons.
2Taylor's murder was one of the first thoughts that came to mind for us too.
3This sums up what I've heard about McNair over the years. A great guy both on and off the field.
"As an avid—and sometimes rabid—New York Giants fan, it's rare that I find myself rooting for a player on another team. Why that is, well, it's beyond me. My loyalty for Big Blue runs deep and unless a certain player has ties to the Giants, there's little chance I'll root for them.
But when it came to Steve "Air" McNair, it was a different case.
Sometimes there are just athletes who come along that do and say all the right things; athletes that are larger than life and play the game the way it's meant to be played. They are the men that grit their teeth, play through pain and do everything within their power to help their team win a game. Yet when they leave the field, they can be referred as a gentle giant; men who go out of their way for their communities and charities.
Although he wasn't without fault, Steve McNair was one of those men.
Not only was he a fierce competitor, with a pain tolerance that few athletes exhibit today, he was genuinely good human being that devoted a lot of him time and money to help those in need.
He may never go down with the like of Dan Marino, Steve Young and Joe Montana, but McNair deserves to be remembered for his courageous actions both on and off the field.
My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family, as well as the female victim found with him.

Definitely lil. He was one of those guys you rooted for even if he wasn't on the team you were rooting for.
5Lord! It looks like the shooter is his 20 year old girlfriend. Murder/suicide. Yahoo is look'n like TMZ!!
6So sad for all involved!
7How tragic; he was a such a likeable player.
