This just seems weird
Tampa police say Billy Mays, the television pitchman known for his boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50. Authorities say Mays was pronounced dead this morning after being found by his wife at home. There were no signs of a break-in, and investigators do not suspect foul play. The coroner's office expects to have an autopsy done by Monday afternoon.
Mays' wife, Deborah Mays, says the family doesn't expect to make any public statements and asked for privacy.
Mays was also featured on the reality TV show "Pitchmen" on the Discovery Channel, which followed Mays and Anthony Sullivan in their marketing jobs.

This is really sad. I liked him.
I read that he was on board an airplane that had a bad landing yesterday. He was hit on the head by items falling from overhead. I wonder if he had some sort of head injury like Natasha Richardson had and that's what caused his death.
1Damn, if I was a celebrity I'd be awfully nervous this week.
Nothing against him I'm sure he was a very nice man but God I hated those commercials. I would always say why does this fool have to scream the whole commercial it just made me put the TV on mute.
2That's what I had heard and was wondering if perhaps he had a head injury that caused his death, Trixie.
I said the same thing to my mom this morning Hypno. But I find the commercials humorous at 3am when you are just a little out of it from lack of sleep

Too sad. RIP
4I think you ladies are right, it was probably a head injury that he felt wasn't a serious one, and ultimately it caused his death.
After Natasha Richardson passed away I decided that there was no way I would refuse medical treatment if I suffered any kind of head injury. Even if I think it's not a big deal.
5This death brought me some shock since it was a bit out-there. I also suspect it was a head injury that killed him. The head is such a dangerous place to hit/injure considering you may not have have signs of a problem for days. Then something happens. If it is infact the cause of death, it is truly a shame he did not go the the ER for a check-up. A brief scan could have prevented it all.
May he rest in peace.
6(It will be odd not hearing any new, annoying commercials...)
Sad. I have a feeling this is going to be a death that could have been prevented.
leeluv - yes, no more annoying commercials, but there is still the creepy looking guy that does the Sham-Wow commercials.
7Now they're saying it wasn't his head:
***BREAKING NEWS*** UPDATE: FL Med Examiner: Billy Mays Autopsy Revealed Heart Disease,no evidence that impact on head as cause of death. No head trauma. Need to wait for toxicology reports that could take several weeks, but officials looking at heart disease.
8I got flagged for no apparent reason so sorry if this shows up twice:
***BREAKING NEWS*** UPDATE: FL Med Examiner: Billy Mays Autopsy Revealed Heart Disease, no evidence that impact on head as cause of death. No head trauma. Need to wait for toxicology reports that could take several weeks, but officials looking at heart disease.
9I think the Sham-Wow guy messed up his opportunity for infomercial greatness when he beat up the prostitute. If anything, I think Anthony Sulivan (the guy that is on "Pitchmen" with Mays) will probably do more commercials.
10Heart disease is still preventable.... kinda.
The Sham-Wow guy beat up a prostitute? Holy cow.
11Yup star, he did.

12"The Sham-Wow guy beat up a prostitute? Holy cow."
Judging by his mug shots the prostitue got in some pretty good licks herself.
13No kidding, hypno. He looks so creepy in those mug shots too.
14Huh, I was certain the cause would be head trauma... still, his weight seemed to fluctuate and if his diet was poor, then heart disease is not too shocking. A shame because with proper care and check-ups (scans), then this can be fairly preventable.
Yes, the Shame-Wow guy is a sicko. Lately I noticed they have some new salesman pitching the product. Still, whenever I hear "shame-wow" I think of the b*stard that beat up a hooker. Glad she landed a few punches on his ugly mug (also shows how much lighting and makeup they must have used on him for the ads.
)
15My friends call it Sham-Pow.
16i was so sad when i first read this.. i have a professor that totally looks and acts like him (read: super hyper like that before an exam. not a pretty sight). last week was pretty sad for celebs out there
17Its sad, but I am personally glad he wont be yelling at me anymore
