Now make what you will of this, but... I've been sucked in. It's like Columbo-meets-Maury-meets- well, it's GOOD, and I feel slightly conflicted in saying so.

So after Levi Johnston's big Tyra appearance a bit ago (and a Gawker link), the blog Palin's Deceptions suddenly got all kinds of attention. Yes, it's a whole site investigating the conspiracy of who actually gave birth to Trig Palin. Ow, that's loud I hear you--why do we care? I don't know that we do or should--but the way they're going about figuring it out? Gripping.

Each post gets hundreds of carefully moderated comments--these readers/responders spend hours crafting careful timelines of what pictures were taken of who and when, who said what/when on whose MySpace page, and this one, which was my entree into the site--a post on whether a picture of Levi's sister with a baby who was supposed to be Tripp (Bristol and Levi's kid) was actually Trig--Bristol and Levi's first son?

I know. It's not news, but it's not uninteresting either. It's a fun Friday timesuck--and some really do maintain it's important to get to the bottom of the mystery since Sarah Palin hasn't shown signs of fading from the political scene yet. If anyone can do it, it's this web community. They are relentless ("can we get data on the temperature in Wasilla in April of 2007" etc. Thorough.)

If you dive in, get ready for the Bx2 camp vs. Wx1/Bx1 camp--Bristol had two kids vs. Willow had one, Bristol had one... I'm telling you--it's intense.

Do we need to know if Sarah's the real mother of Trig or is this all just a bunch of (entertaining) horse manure? Have you checked out this site?
