LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County coroner's office is investigating the recent deaths of two men for links to swine flu.
Los Angeles Coroner's spokesman Craig Harvey told the Los Angeles Times that a hospital in Bellflower reported the death of a 33-year-old Long Beach man who was brought in Saturday with symptoms resembling Swine flu.
The other death was a 45-year-old La Mirada man who died April 22 at a Norwalk hospital.
Coroner's Capt. John Kades (KAY-dis) says the bodies are being tested but that there has been no confirmation the disease killed them. He offered no other details about the men.
The Los Angeles Times reports on its Web site that both men's deaths were reported to the coroner's office on Monday.

Oy, there's some happy news...
1Craziness. This swine flu is getting out of hand. Is every death with possible symptoms going to be assumed to be a death related to the swine flu? I realize it is important for people to know about the swine flu, but if you careful and practice good hygiene, you will be okay.
Testing and treatment for the swine flu is the same as the regular flu. US cases have been mild. The only people infected are those who have been to Mexico. The reason so many people have died in Mexico is because of substandard medical care and because doctors turned people away. I really feel the media is making this out to be bigger than it really is. And WHO isn't helping by calling it a near-pandemic.
2No kidding!
I just heard that "the EU has warned travelers on Monday to stay away from Mexico and the US as governments worldwide moved to contain the spread of swine flu, and the first confirmed cases of the disease were reported in Europe."

3One of my coworkers is supposed to leave for Europe Monday and now she is in a frenzy. I keep telling her to calm down. Just take hand sanitizer and wear a mask on the plane if she feels that icky about it.
Now if she was going to Mexico... that I might advise against.
4I'm scurred.
5Oy, the news isn't getting any better about this...
6Folks, you are probably not aware of this but we lose about 36,000 people a year to the flu. There is little risk to anyone who is in good health.

8A kid in my daughters school had not been to mexico but has been a confirmed case. She was visiting family in LA. So um.... yeah
9And Grandpa, if you check out the cdc website, they say that swine flu has a higher instance of causing pneumonia then typical influenza, which is where the deaths are coming from.
